Rather than stride through the main entrance, you decide to shift your course off the trail and slightly leftward. Almost immediately, you come across a gap between two disused houses. You make your way to the center of the village as quietly as possible, avoiding the main paths and winding your way through a disorganized maze of alleyways. Your companions follow behind you closely, both of them experienced in the ways of stealth. They stick to the shadows and defer to you as to which direction to go, so that in the event that you are discovered they will have time to escape.

Silence pervades throughout. You hear no signs of life emanating from any of the buildings you pass. It is as though everyone simply got up and left.
