Erinyes Game
You make a terrible joke, and Apollo laughs. His laughter is interrupted by an awful choking sound, and blood dribbles from his mouth. You feel a twinge of regret as you withdraw the dagger from his back, but you continue to stab him several times.
"I'm so sorry, Apollo," you mumble, "but I had to."
His bloodied lips twist into a rueful smile. "I...understand, Hestia."
"Tell Artemis I said hello."
Apollo's body pitches backward, falling onto the box you sat upon, the pool of blood spreading beneath him. You barely register the sound of the door opening.
Aphrodite and Hera walk in, talking quietly before spotting you. Aphrodite beams and rushes to join you, smile disappearing when she sees Apollo's dead body. She stops several feet away, eyes wide.
"Hestia, what have you done?"
"I...I needed to survive. I didn't know if he'd kill me while we were waiting for you, Aphrodite."
"What?" She glares at you. It's not intimidating at all. "I wanted to try and work with him, damn it! We could have at least all tried to reach Moirae together!" She keeps yelling at you, and when you roll your eyes, her volume just increases.
Hera is finally making her way over to the both of you, holding a poleaxe. You have never come into contact with one in real life, and hoped you wouldn't ever have to.
"Yeah, I've had enough of this," she says, lifting her weapon.
"Aphrodite, look out--"
Before the words of warning leave your lips, Hera slices Aphrodite's head clean off. Her headless body collapses as the lone head drops to the ground.
You stare at Hera, eyes wide, fully expecting to feel the axe bite into your own neck next. Instead, Hera lowers the bloody poleaxe and actually smiles at you.
"Well, Hestia, I suppose it's down to the two of us," she says. "I must say, I'm very pleased that you were able to kill Apollo so easily. I'm glad you decided to fight, instead of giving up. It's the kind of spirit I admire."
You simply nod, not knowing what to say.
"Let's go to Moirae together. I won't kill you here, and I believe it's nearly time anyway. What do you say?"
"...Okay." If she wanted to, she definitely would've killed you already. So why not take her up on this strange offer?
Hopping off the box, you follow Hera out of the storage room and back down the hall to face your final judgement.
