A Trip for the Lost

“Rose, why do you always have your nose in books. Don’t forget that we are real people and your real friends,” sarcastically commented Sarah as she walked through the door. I rose to hug Sarah and Emily, who filed in behind her. I was filled with love to see them in person finally and excitement over our annual trip. We had wished my parents farewell and hopped in the car when the alarm on my phone went off. Apparently, there was a blizzard and low temperature warnings for the campsite we were to be staying at this week. I mindlessly dismissed the warning and continued on the path, chatting and catching up all the way there.
