The waitress nods and heads to get the waters.

You look over at your friend and see that they are smiling.

"What?" You ask.

"I didn't know if you were going to get a straw or not."

You mentally roll your eyes at your friend. Are they serious?

"Why is it so important if I get a straw or don't get a straw?"

"Well," they say, "It takes straws around two-hundred years to decompose."

"So what if it takes two-hundred years to decompose?"

"Because they don't ever fully break down," they explained, "They'll always be here. They either go to landfills or pollute the ocean. The decision of using them or not using them is actually a big deal."
