A Tale of Two Choices
The watch had an inscription in looped writing saying "Alfred E Withenstrop - 1789".
"Well, it looks like this old curious shop has been pilfering from my family, Charles."
Charles looked taken aback. He had bought the watch in good faith. The proprietor, a young sickly looking girl (who he thought had been called Nell) did not look the theiving kind.
"Are you sure Edmund? I didn't know you had an ancestor called Alfred."
Edmund tutted. He hadn't actually heard of Alfred - there may have been a great uncle, but he was not certain.
