Homicide and Havoc on Halloween

"Let's go quickly," I explain, trying to sound more confident than you really are. You brace yourselves, then when there is a break in the cars you make a run for it. Octavia and Scarlett bolt right behind you. You are almost to the end. You are gonna get sooo much more candy! You were right, It was perfectly fine to cross the street. It should have been fine, if only there was no blinding light approaching you, lighting up the whole side of your body. The light felt like it was growing closer, it was hotter and hotter. Then, suddenly a rush of pain filtrates through your body, like you've just been struck by electricity. A blaring horn screams in your ear. This is last you remember since you were knocked unconscious.

You wake up in a dimly lit room. It smells of plastic and sterilizer. You are lying in a small hosital bed with a scratchy aqua blue blanket over you. You move your arm to try to sit up, and as soon as you do your body writhes in protest. It feels like your leg is on fire, and as you look at it there is a huge gash with blood dried all around it. Your spine feels like it is dislocated, almost like its been wrenched out from under your skin. One of your bones are exposed from under your skin, which makes that area pang with discomfort each time you inhale. “How long have you been here? What time is it?” You wonder. It takes all of your strength not to cry out in agony. You try to get a better look at where you are. There is no one in sight, but you do see a big metal door cracked open. Curiosity sparks your mind. “What if I go explore some to see where I am?” you ask yourself. But, with your whole body in pain, it would be so nice just to fall back to sleep. After all, maybe this is just an awful dream.
