Outlander

When you first began, you realized just how little you knew about horses and horse riding. Cyoa proved to be the perfect raining for you though. Everyday you would brush her coat, clean her hooves and feed her and apple before your ride. You would ride for three hours a day, walking at first, but working slowly towards a trot. Using your spell book, you learned several spells and remedies for healing Cyoa and freshening her coat. Within three months, she had thick brown hair and ran as well as the rest of the horses at the stable. Within a year, the coat was shimmering, long and she was top of the Horsemaster's line of steeds. During your training, you also learned riding, swordsmanship and bowcraft. You are not quite as skilled as the other soldiers, but you also trained with your spell book. As you use it more and more, the Words of Power come more naturally and you can shoot fireballs and lightning from your fingertips while riding at a full gallop. The Horsemaster now sees you as an able soldier and has let you train with the rest of the riders.
You have also learned much of Hoofdown's politics. All of the people are divided into ten separate clans, united under a single Horsemaster who is chosen from each generation by his or her predecessor. Each of the clans are then ruled by a lesser Master and a Charmweaver. The Charmweavers are magicians and soothsayers, and in recent years they have unanimously professed a doom coming to the nation. All clan leaders have since been building armies in preparation for an attack. The Horsemaster, worried about a coup in the event that no actual threat reveals itself, wanted an outlander on his side to be unbiased but loyal. Thus, as you prove yourself, you have come more under his wing and into his confidence.
Now, a proven horse rider and magician, you ride the market streets of Hoofdown with an air of confidence. You are about to approach a stand when you catch sight of a familiar figure in the corner of your eye. The blonde woman is deep in the crowd, and you cannot see any features, but you are intrigued...
