You ask the crew to take one for the team (or have one take the team). Everyone disagrees with no one being willing to make the sacrifice. Seeing this sorry scene playing out before his compassionate eyes, The Commodore steps in.
"I will volunteer as tribute, men."
The Commodore retires to the lower deck to change. The crew is left in stunned silence. They cannot believe the lengths to which their leader is willing to go in order to satisfy them. They consider the weight of the situation.
The Commodore returns. Ralph (the blind man) says "You look great." And he does. But the crew aren't sure what to do.
