Summer fun

“DANNY! NO!!!” The boys collectively cried as the underside of Danny's foot seemed to fall directly over them.

“So weird....I don't think they were standing THIS far back....” Danny wondered out loud as he came to a halt.

Just as the middle schooler was beginning to fear that he might have already accidentally walked over them, Danny noticed a hardly visible set of tiny movements just ahead of his hovering right foot.

“-Oh shit....” Danny gasped as he pulled his foot back. Carefully stepping to the side, the mortified young teen gazed down at tiny specks. There, nestled in the fibers of carpet were his friends, puny as crumbs. Any random passerby would have never possibly noticed them.

The three tiny boys let out a sigh of relief as Danny just barely manged to find them in time. He carefully kneeled down to the floor and leaned his face in towards them.

“Woah ..sorry guys.....you look waaay smaller than I was.....” Danny casually concluded.

Danny's hotdog scented breath flooded the trio's senses as he unintentionally breathed over them. Though he was whispering, the deep sound waves of his vocal chords were powerful enough to rattle the tiny teens to their bones.

“NO KIDDING DUDE! CAN YOU FIX IT??!!!” Tim yelled up at the oblivious giant. Becoming tiny had been the whole plan, but the three of them all seemed to agree that they were currently a bit TOO small for comfort.

“Hold on! Let me see if I can find something to pick you guys up with...” Danny whispered as he considered how fragile his friends had become. Just gently trying to pinch one of them between his fingers would probably prove fatal to their newly miniaturized forms.

Danny reached over and grabbed an old yellow flashcard off his nightstand. It appeared that he had been using it to study history as it was covered in notes about Aberham Lincoln. Placing the thick rectangular flashcard on the floor next to the his friends, Danny watched closely as the boys began to climb on board.

The tiny boys hesitantly stepped onto the flat yellow platform, marveling at the huge granite letters scrawled out all the way across it. None of them were fully prepared as the card suddenly began to lift into the air towards Danny's enormous face.

“W-WOAH! H-holy shit!!!” Justin yelled out.

“W-wow, you guys actually look like bugs...” Danny pointed out as he lifted the card right up his eyes. Though he had been against this whole thing from the start, he had to admit that he felt a certain level of fascination as he held up his three speck-sized friends.

“D-damn guys. This is actually kinda terrifying..." Tim mentioned as he tried to keep himself steady.

“Yeah..I'm not really feeling all that cool with this anymore.....” Sam muttered nervously as looked up at Danny's gargantuan eyes.

“I kinda stopped having fun after we were almost STEPPED ON” Justin yelled sarcastically up towards his giant friend.

Tim cupped his hands over his mouth and began to shout.

“HEY DUDE! WE'RE STARTING TO THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN RIGHT ABOUT THIS WHOL-” Tim stopped mid sentence as Danny pulled the card away from his face and started to carry it down towards his little brother's gargantuan sneaker.

“Alright guys...Hope you're ready for this!!” Danny stated excitedly.

“WAIT! NO!! DANNY! WE WANT TO CALL IT OFF!! ” Tim yelled as the other boys jumped up and down waving their hands.

Just as Danny was about to tilt the flash card into the sneaker he just barely noticed that his friends had started jumping and waving.

“Huh? wait.... Are you guys trying to say something??” Danny asked with genuine concern as he brought the card over to his ear.

The boys began to collectively scream in opposition.

Listening closely, Danny attempted to pick up what they were trying to communicate. Their voices were very faint and almost inaudible. Though he couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, the high pitched frequency of their tiny voices kinda sounded a lot like excited cheering??

“Well...alright then.... If you guys are really THAT excited about it...” Danny answered with a chuckle as he slowly brought the card back over to the opening of the black and orange colored shoe.

“wait.......NONONO!!! DUDE WE WANT TO CALL IT OFF!! DUDE STOP!!!!!!” Tim and the others cried out.

“Well........in you go~” Danny giggled as he began tilting the flashcard, lowering the opposite end of the card down to the sneaker's insole.

Danny watched intently as his friends began to slide down the yellow slope like little eraser shavings.

“DAAAANNNNYYY!!!~~~” The tiny trio screamed as their world began to tilt, sending them down the vast yellow slide. They could do nothing but watch as their view of the outside world vanished as they plummeted into the rubber scented darkness.

It felt so surreal as the sides of the inner sneaker began to rise up all around the boys. The ominous shadow of the footwear's giant tongue loomed over their heads as they slid in deeper. The dark, tightly woven walls looked like some form of alien architecture.

After what felt like the longest slide ever, the boys landed upon their destination. One after another the three teens made impact with the soft, spongy surface of the insole. Directly underneath them was a large Etnies symbol imprinted across the heel.

“Hooollly shiiiit.......” The boys were frozen as they took it all in. It was unlike anything they'd ever experienced. The height of the walls around them equaled that of a twenty story tall building. The dark, intimidating tunnel ahead of them looked like it was the length of three football fields. Due to the sneaker being so relatively new, there weren't any apparent signs of wear, and that 'new-sneaker' smell Danny had been referring to was indeed still very much present. That being said though, there was still an unmistakable foot odor that lingered in the air, obviously a result of Danny's kid brother wearing it for the past few days.

The insignificance of their size really hit home for the teens as they remembered that this immense cavern was in reality, just the inside of a kid's-size sneaker. They were too stunned to even notice as the yellow cardstock wall behind them lifted away from the soft navy-blue insole, leaving them stranded behind in the strange new world.

After pulling the flashcard back out, Danny looked down into the opening of the shoe. It was almost hard to comprehend that the three specks of lint at the bottom were actually his closest friends.
