Final Quest
"Hello," you say to the man, having decided that it would be rude to just ignore him.
"Hello, Esther," the man replies with a smile.
"How do you know my name?" you ask with a frown.
"Oh, everyone knows about Esther, who betrayed this land," the little man grins.
You jerk backwards. "I didn't!" you protest vehemently. "I'd *never* betray this land! It's my home."
"Sure you did," the man responds. "Everyone knows. Maybe you could have done more, maybe if you'd been quicker."
"I *didn't*!" you insist with a slight whimper in your voice. But the man is only saying thoughts which have been whirling around in your mind ever since you found the kingdom in a ruin.
"You're useless!" the little man spits, his face twisting with hate and rage. "You can't do anything right. You became a warrior only because you weren't good for anything else! No one really likes you. They just feel sorry for you. You don't have any true friends!"
You feel a black despair fill your soul, and close your eyes with a soft sound that's almost like a sob. He's right. This man knows so much about you, like he's inside your mind.
