"Why are the um, 'Mystics' targeting us?" you ask.
"Sweet Pea, you're part of a century-long bloodline, that allows whoever gets it the ability to see Mystics. They want us to know that they're there. And they chose now to show themselves to you. You see, the Mystics only appear to you five total times in your life. This will probably be my third time seeing them if they show themselves to me."
"But... why are they targeting us?" you ask again.
"I honestly don't know, but it can't be good. Especially since gargoyles were in the dream. Oh yes - one thing: do NOT tell your father or Lydia about your ability. We are the only two in this family - as far as I know - that can see Mystics."
