The Heart of Russia

The CH-53E Super Stallion's huge rotor whined as the chopper slowed to a hover over the snowcovered ground. The ten passengers sat in two rows to give themselves plenty of space in the cabin behind the pilot and copilot, who had lowered a drop rope to the powder below.
"Alright, listen up everbody!" The voice of the First Sergeant made everything stop. "If we get down there without a plan, we're gonna get our asses kicked like no others," he yelled over the noise of the chopper's engines. "We drop and fan out heading northwest, then make it up those mountains up ahead!"
"Yes, sir!" Every marine on the helicopter yelled in response.
"These little bastards down here in the snow don't stand a chance! They expect a bunch of pussies comin' their way, but we're gonna give 'em something more! We're gonna give 'em a face full of cold lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Now get your asses down there! Go!" The First Sergeant held the rope as the first marine grabbed it and jumped. He was immediatly lost in the blizzard when he started to slide down. The other nine marines followed shortly behind, appearing out of the blistering snow and disappearing again into the trees around them. The last three marines out were Private Johnathan "Riptide" Carrera, Lance Corporal Sean "Burnout" Raditz, and James "Diamond" Furver. The three friends landed one after the other in the two foot deep snow and ran into the tree cover. Their headsets helped hear the First Sergeant and their squad while protecting their ears from the intense cold.
"Clear!" Diamond said into the mic. on his headset, and the helicopter pulled away, flying off into the blinding snow.
"Heads up, people! Thermal readings show that a squad of about eight people are headed our way. They must have heard the chopper or something!" One of the privates said over the comm.
"Roger that, Private! Diamond, Riptide! Get your sorry asses up to the front and give those bastards what they deserve!" The First Sergeant yelled over the headsets.
"On the way, sir," John said as he and James ran forward and turned on their thermal vision. Sure enough, the shapes of eight people showed red in their vision.
