Solipsism

"Book smart, or just socially observant?" asked the other voice.

"I think both," I said, mulling it over. "I mean, this is going to be a hero, so why not both? And, since I'm subverting stereotypes here, I think I'll make this hero a woman."

"What, women can't be heroes?"

"I just said that I was making-"

"You also said that you were subverting the stereotype," countered the other voice. "Meaning that normal heroes are male."

I ignored him, and started to work on my hero. I opted not to diverge too far from the standard female form, though I did make certain to ensure that she would be beautiful. I made her breasts full, without being comically large, and I gave her long, flowing blonde hair."

"Well, it's good to see that she can't be a hero unless she's physically attractive," said the other voice. "I mean, not that you're sexist, or anything."

"I... but I'm not!" I yelled. "Male heroes are held to the exact same standards! Male heroes are always physically fit, if not insanely muscular, and they're always incredibly handsome! Why are you giving me such a hard time about this!"

"Whatever. Sexist."

I fumed silently to myself, trying not to let the other voice bother me too much. It was time to mold the world around her.
