Solipsism

I decided to make her the official ambassador of a meager nation surrounded by several larger, warring nations. Thanks to her intelligence and her social prowess, her nation had managed to stay out of the conflict. In fact, it was starting to grow in fame and prestige... a utopia, a beacon of hope in such dark and troubling times. "I think I'll call her Andromeda," I said.

"You depress me," said the other voice.

"Oh, come on, what's wrong now?" I asked.

"You've made her way too perfect, although that's actually a minor grievance compared to the fact that you've somehow decided that she can only be a hero if she's successful at being a domestic housewife."

"Oh, come on, what are you talking about?"

"Just look at her," said the other voice. "Settling disputes and applying logic to heated, emotional situations? If that doesn't scream 'mother' then I don't know what does."

"You are reading way too much into this," I countered. "Just because she's a different kind of a hero who happens to be a woman, you're assuming that women can't be normal heroes. Or that men have to use brute strength to be heroes."

"I'm not saying that you're correct, but I will agree to stop bringing up the issue," said the other voice.

"Well, that's... surprisingly kind of you. May I ask why?"

"Yeah, The northern nation just launched a nuclear explosive at the southeastern nation, and now this entire reality has been engulfed in a mushroom cloud."

I paused. I'd gotten so caught up in arguing with the other voice that I completely neglected to pay attention to what was happening in my newly created reality. Sure enough, Andromeda had been vaporized almost instantly. I let out a sigh of frustration as reality began to unravel. I'd built this whole world around her. Now that she was dead, reality would not last long.
