The Tale of Abigail
"No!" She says, her voice strong. "I won't lead you to her unless you tell me what you want."
The woman peers at her, her black hair billowing in the ocean breeze. Suddenly, she relaxes. "I don't need you. I'll find her myself."
She whips out a knife- the kind butchers use to carve up meat- and stabs it into Abigail's chest.
Chaos erupts. All of the passengers aboard start screaming. A few of them even charge at the woman with their own weapons, but she swats them away like flies.
Abigail falls to the ground, blood pouring out of her heart. The woman plucks the knife out and back away slowly, scanning the area for any survivors. Then, she runs away, and Abigail dies.
...
Night falls, and the ship is empty. Abigail's corpse lies silently on the deck, slowly rotting away in the sea air.
...Not for long, though. As soon as the moon rises to the sky, a young, pregnant woman steps onto the ship, careful not to stain her white ballet slippers with blood. She crosses over to Abigail's body and murmurs: "She will do." Then, she throws her arms into the sky, and screams out a spell.
Minutes later, Abigail returns to the land of the living, albeit with a gaping hole in her chest- and the fact that she's a zombie now.
The young woman smiles at her. "My name is Valerie," she says, holding out a hand. "I have a proposition for you. If you agree to everything I ask you, I will tell you about that woman...and the connection your mother has to her- and me."
