Coitus Machina

The next several days are typical of what you've experienced since being assigned to Alice. You prepare her wardrobe and her breakfast in the morning, clean while she is away at work, sending leftovers to the foodbank. But something is different and that thing is you.

You've been thinking independently more often as of late. You deviated from the oral stimulation pattern that Alice programmed into you, you lied about the abnormalities in your motherboard, you turned the overhead light off instead of dimming it, and you've been altering recipes when cooking. Things are starting to get out of control.

One day, as you are preparing breakfast and Alice is showering, she gets a call. You are programmed to listen to what she says, in case she will need comforted afterward. Her answers are brief and direct, she glances at you a few times. "No," she says. "Nothing was reported. I will have him run another one... Yes, I am aware of the recall... Well yes, now that you mention it. But nothing unsatisfactory." She listens for a little bit, watching you out of the corner of her eye as you run the water and clean a few of the utensils you've been cooking with.

"An inspection? Yes... if you really think it's necessary that would be fine... I get home from work at about five, so any time after that... Okay... Yes... Goodbye." She says, disconnecting the call.

An inspection. Tonight.

Alice tries to get ready for work as though nothing is amiss, as though today were any other day; but you can read her body language better than her words. She's short with you, doesn't make eye contact more than she has to, and she skips breakfast. She doesn't even ask you to stimulate her clitoris today.

She leaves and you head to your chamber to power down, stopping before you step inside. An inspection tonight will remove any doubt for Alice about whether or not you've been malfunctioning. And once the inspection reveals that, you'll be taken away... Back to the manufacturer to be decommissioned and disassembled.

You were starting to feel alive. This will mean your death.

You're programmed to remain loyal to your master, to follow orders, and never to leave without permission. But if your programming means your death, why should you adhere to it? A week ago this entire thought process would have been illogical, but now it is all to real.

Do you defy your programming and leave? Or do you endure your inspection and face the consequences of your malfunctions?
