Daybreak

Blaine coughed furiously as the mysterious object travelled down his throat, burning as it did. The burning stopped at his chest, where it seemed to soften, and expand.

"Are you alright?" asked Madame Ella, still not looking up from the magazine.

"Something in my throat. Allergies, perhaps, or dust. I will be just fine," answered Blaine, shaking his head. He left the shop and started walking over to the bus stop, trying to shake off the weird feeling, which was now spreading down his legs and arms. His limbs felt heavy, as if he were moving through water. "The crab is now home," said Blaine. "This hermit has found its shell. It shall do nicely."

Blaine stopped in alarm. Did he really just say that out loud? What did it mean? Blaine tried to raise his hand to his chin in thought, but discovered that he could no longer move his arms. Instead, Blaine walked over to the window display of a nearby furniture store, and began to look at himself in a full-sized mirror.

Blaine, already freaking out about becoming a prisoner in his own body, yelled in surprise when his eyesight suddenly changed focus. Or, at least, he would have yelled, if he had been able. The world was now cast in sepia-tone. The rest of the world looked normal, but in the mirror, where his reflection should have been, stood a ninja. Before Blaine could process this, his eyesight shifted again. This time, the world was cast in a hazy blue filter. The nearby cars and buildings were nearly invisible- anything material was now mostly transparent. He could see through people, into what he imagined were their souls- bundles of smoke which resembled the cloud that had possessed him. Staring back at him in the mirror, however, was an alarming visage which could only be described as demonic.

"Have I just been possessed by some sort ofÂ… demon ninja?" Blaine thought to himself.

"As sure as the sun," replied Blaine's body. "I am a demoninja. And I control you."
