The Island of Destiny

Gripping the knife with extra tightness, you fiercely plunge the knife through Shmitty's chest. He weezes in a deep gasp of air and looks at you with sorrowful, apologetic eyes. But it doesn't matter now and as you pull the knife from him, you stab him again in the heart. This time, you really see the life leave his face and when you pull the knife, his body collapses on the sand below.

Then you notice Cap'n Bones and a smaller man with a moustache come up from around the bend of trees. When Bones sees the fallen form of Shmitty on the beach, he lets out a loud yell and waves a bloated finger at you.

"Gittim Culver! He killed Shmitty!"

Cap'n Bones and the man named Culver then charge across the beach towards you. Quickly, you turn and dash into the jungle behind you. You blaze through the jungle like you never have before, running through brush and dodging obstacles quicker than you can almost comprehend. Your goal is to get deep into this jungle, hopefully so far that the pirates decide you're not worth the hunt.

You approach a cliff in the jungle and many vines hang around it. You grab a vine from an upper rocky ledge and test it for stability. It seems decent enough and grabbing hold of the vine, you begin to work your way down the cliff.

You touch down at the ground about fifty feet below. This should put you a good deal away from the pirates. Should you stop and try to listen for them? Or should you keep moving through the jungle?
