Time Traveller

"How about we go to the mines?" You say, still feeling stupid putting on that accent.

"Sure, might as well," the Sheriff says, "that's where I would hide if I were an outlaw." He gets up from his seat, and you follow him outside. He waves to a large grey horse tied up nearby.

"Just ride him to the mine. He used to be my last deputy's horse, but he ain't been around for sometime."

You climb onto the horse, feeling you don't want to ask what happened to the last deputy. The ride up to the mines takes all day, and night has fallen before you reach it.

When you finally reach the mine, you can see a lantern swinging forlornly in the wind outside a very forbidding looking entrance. Suddenly, you start thinking that maybe this wasn't such a great idea.

"Well, here we are," says the Sheriff, climbing off his horse and stepping fearlessly towards the mine. You follow him into the darkness, taking the lantern so you can see your way. The orange glow leaps across the walls of the mine, casting everything in a stark light.

Unexpectedly, you reach a junction. The Sheriff stands still, unsure of which way to go. You can hear a sort of creaking from the left, and water dripping from the right.

Will you go left? Or right?
