Shadowgate

Turning your head from the suffering monstrosity, you can't help but to think of any other fate so deserving but the one it has now. Approaching the stained iron door, you shiver as a young girl's cry wails from the demon's blackened throat.

Gathering your blazing blue ember from the corner of the room, you heave the iron door open, leaving a lonely death in your past.

A rush of cold air sweeps your senses skyward. Head tilted back, your eyes widen as a starry night sky engulfs your view.

Situated upon an extremely high stone tower, it's hard not to notice the seemingly tame creatures nestling along the edges. Heads of snakes, with the body of a horse, the feeding beasts stretch their massive leather wings high into the sky.

Lowering your torch, you observe pales of flesh overflowing onto the stone. Swallowing, you lift your eyes to the feeders filled to the rim with appendages and the occasional head. You watch in accustomed terror as a venomous set of jaws swallow a mouthful of legs and arms, dripping down the neck.

Cautiously, you approach the tower edge. Gazing down through the night sky, it is indeed an extremely high drop down into the river below.

From the side, you see now that the creatures host sets of razor talons, further off setting them from their awkward bodies.

Tilting your head towards the heavens once more, you conclude that you have accomplished far too much to turn back now. Tasting freedom, you sigh.
