While Brenda might still think the world of you, the rest of the village still remembers the trouble you used to be. In fact as it's remembered you didn't leave the village under the best of conditions! Brenda's dad is still pissed off about catching you with her that night, and your own dad was just as happy to see you leave as well. You're getting a lot of sideways glances as you walk through.
Your arrival is met with mixed emotions. Your Mom is happy to see you, but Dad is well Dad.
"Huh, so you're back. I thought I told you not to come back. Figures you wouldn't listen to me."
"Oh hush! Can't you be happy to see your son?" your Mom says trying to make the peace.
"A lousy no good thief like him? I don't see why I should after all the grief he gave us. He even stole from the shop!"
"Dad, that was a long time ago!"
"Wasn't THAT long ago. Look I dunno why you're here, and quite frankly I don't care, but if you think you're staying here, you better think again. You better stay at the Wanderer Inn or something. I turned your room into a den anyway!"

A big argument between you, your Dad and your Mom ensues. Ultimately your Mom manages to convince your Dad to let you stay, but he doesn't like it. In fact he wants you to earn your keep!
"Gypsies. Damn gypsies are camping near the village as if things weren't rotten enough with all the rest of the stuff going on. They come in here and steal from hard working folks like me. I refuse to even let them in the shop, but yet I'm still noticing things missing and I know it's them! Things weren't disappearing until they arrived. Since you're a lousy thief yourself maybe you can better handle them because I'm certainly not getting any help from anyone else." Your Dad says.
"Okay, I'll look into it."
"You better, if you want to stay here."
Make a note of this is where you're stashing your stuff (Parent's House) and staying for your duration here. Given how close it is, if you're ever suddenly overloaded with stuff you can quickly return here and drop off the excess just make sure you mark it down. You can use gold from here to pay for things at a shop, but you can't use any objects stored here that you might be given the option to use in any type of encounter.
In meantime you can decide on what to do next.
