Legend

"Ah yes, perhaps you are worthy to serve the Dark One after all." Azoth says.
"More worthy than you. At least I'm not trapped in a little crystal."
"Watch your tone mortal! You may have an audience for now, but do not presume that you are my better! In any event, yes it is a hindrance to be trapped, and I suppose your distrust will cause you to be hesitant to release me."
"Got that right."
"Mmm, well the next best thing would be to have a vessel of some sort so I could at least move around and better able to accomplish my goals. I'd use one of the undead, but they really aren't suitable for such a thing. Need something living."
"Yeah, well that's not happening either."
"Of course, of course. Though it would be for your benefit…(sigh) however I have another plan. As you're probably aware, there's a forest nearby. Elves live there and they're probably going to be trouble later anyway so I want you to go grab one of them and bring them here. In fact I can sense that one of them has been skulking around in the area. I'll do the rest. Again I'd get one those soulless corpses to grab one, but they have no subtlety and usually wind up killing the living which I don't need! I need the host alive!"
"This is all fine and well for you, but what exactly am I getting out of this?"
"What? Furthering the cause of the Dark One's mission isn't enough? Hah! Of course it isn't! You will be granted more power to do with as you wish obviously."
"And what proof do I have that you're going to even keep your word or even not kill me after I risk my life to bring you a damn elf to begin with?"
"None, you'll just have to trust me, hahahahaha! If it will reassure your distrusting heart some, know that if you do perform this task, it would prove competency. Obviously I would not want to kill such a useful person that is dedicated to the Dark One."
"Mmm, maybe…"
"I can tell you're still not convinced. Would it be better to set up a binding contract for this arrangement, so that we can both get exactly what we want with no tricks?"
