You kick at your horse, spurring her on as she takes to your command and pushes into an all-out charge for the edge of the town. You hear Gus shout that you're a "damn fool" barely above the thunder of the hooves.

An explosion of a shotgun explodes behind you and a moment later Betty cries in pain and falls to the ground, spilling you from her back to land hard on the ground below. There are a few moments when you must have been out. Your horse is crying out in pain, and you draw your gun to see the sheriff standing not too far away.

"You put that gun down," he says to you.

You don't listen. You pull the trigger and shoot your horse in the head, putting the girl out of her misery. She's always been a good horse; best you've ever stolen.

"Put yer damn gun down, boy," the sheriff instructs you again.

This time you comply, letting the pistol fall to the dry earth. You hold both of your hands out to your sides, showing submission.

"Stand up," he tells you. You do so. "Now tell yer friends goodbye."

You wince and close your eyes, assuming that he is going to fire on you at any moment. But there is no ring of the shot, and eventually you open your eyes. The sheriff has the gun standing at his side.

"Well," he says. "Say goodbye to 'em."

"Are you arresting me, sheriff?" You ask.

"Somethin' like that." He answers. "Yer gonna to stay here an' marry my daughter so that my grandson can be raised up proper."

You stare back at him in a stunned silence. "You heard me right," the sheriff tells you. "Now say goodbye to your friends."

You walk over to Gus and Annie and tell them what happened. Annie laughs hysterically about the whole thing, mentioning that your penis has now twice been the death of you. Gus gives you a solemn pat on the shoulder and has a real somber look on his face. "Good luck," he says to you.

You say your goodbyes and walk back to the sheriff with your head hanging low. Behind you, you hear Gus and Annie start arguing about something. You stop to watch them bicker, and in the end Annie gets on her horse, and Gus walks over to you.

He hands you a bag of money. "Here," he says. "You're gonna need this and you earned as much as we did."
"Thanks," you say, taking the money from him.

He pats you on the shoulder and wishes you a good life. You wish him the same and he walks away. Annie waits impatiently for him to return.

The sheriff taps you on the shoulder and fixes you with a stern gaze. "You try anything funny, I'll shoot you dead."

You nod in understanding and follow him to the woman who will be your wife. You have what is referred to as a shotgun wedding, complete with a genuine shotgun.

Your fate is sealed.
