There was only one thing to do. I decided that I would confront him directly. I couldn't allow this to go unmentioned and I certainly couldn't allow Malfoy to kill Professor Dumbledore. Certain that Lord Voldemort was gone I stepped out of my hiding place. Malfoy jumped, obviously startled by my presence.

"What are you doing here, mud blood?" His question drained nearly every tiny bit of sympathy I'd been feeling for him right out of me.

"I heard that conversation," I told him boldly, "and I'm not putting up with it. You can't kill Professor Dumbledore. He's a wonderful, kind man who has done everything he could to help the students at Hogwarts."

"How are you going to stop me?" Malfoy's lip curled, his face set in that malicious, self satisfied look we'd all grown used to over the past years. I felt my own lips fall into a frown.

"I'll do whatever I have to," I told him, my voice flat but steady. I pulled my wand out and held it on him. "Promise me you'll stop this nonsense and refuse to kill Professor Dumbledore."

"I can't promise something like that, he'd kill me." Now Malfoy had his wand out and was pointing it at me, "You can try, but he would do it."
