Forest Dweller

You turn to examine the strange, flowing substance. It seems to pulse and contract, almost like a heart, from the center. Suddenly the wave rises and splashes down on you with an intense force. On instinct you put your sword up and prepare for the worst. Nothing happens. Opening your eyes, you see that your sword has pierced the center of it. The 'Heart' has been broken, and appears to be bleeding profusely. Instead of blood, however, it is giving off a strange steam. The steam slowly evaporates the rest of the wave, and you are free to continue. Elos may have more traps set, and the fact that he knows you are on your way can't be good news for you OR the village. To your right you notice a mine shaft. It's old, REALLY old. It looks as though it could crumble away any instant. On the other hand, it IS leading in the right direction. It could serve two purposes- Elos would expect an attack from the woods, and not so soon. You might catch him off guard earlier than he would expect.

Then again, that mine shaft looks really, really shifty. It could be just another trap set by Elos.
