You start to wander the village and see exactly what Brenda was talking about. It's nowhere near as bad as Holgard, but somewhere along the way this place has definitely lost its prideÂ…excellent.
The problem with Altberg is that it never had any formal government system. There wasn't even a mayor. It was more of a collection of homes that was subject to "mob rule" when the need arose. There wasn't a need for a police force or even sheriff. It was rare that someone did something really bad, and those that did were either strung up or ran out of town. For the most part people helped each other because they were all sort of dependant on each other to a small degree. Everyone played their part to keep the community going. You nearly vomit when you think about the fact that you came from such a place.
There was an overall belief in the One True God at one time in your village which somewhat kept people acting like animals, but even that seems to have been abandoned, or at least ignored. You just saw the local priest lying drunk in a nearby pasture. You're certainly glad about this. The village has certainly taken a superior direction in your opinion. Though a little more influence by the Dark One would be even better.
Certainly you can find someway of taking advantage of the situation.
