The Door
Bradley, a lonely and broken young man with the appearance of having never been taught good grooming. While growing up he had been labelled as "slow" and anti-social, teased and taunted by the other kids, disregarded by teachers and ignored at home by his alcoholic parents, unless they felt like belting someone around. His siblings didn't ignore him and found in him a convenient victim to torment at will.
His parents and siblings are gone and had been so for a long time now. The Door saw to that for him.
Yes, The Door. He came across The Door quite by accident one day. A group of local youths had been chasing him after school and Bradley ran right for the old Marston Manor, knowing that with its reputation for being haunted the youths would never dare follow him.
As he cowered in a dark corner, waiting until the youths would be long gone, he heard a whisper commanding him to locate its source. He searched and found The Door. It spoke to him, telling him that it understood his pain and could take care of all those who had ever hurt him. So, one by one he lured his enemies here and fed them to The Door.
The Door always waited there patiently for him, never demanding but always well pleased when fed. But today, today was different. Today The Door was gone, no longer waiting patiently for him. What awaited him upon his arrival was The Dark, that which lived behind The Door and devoured what was thrown into it.
Today The Door whispered to him from INSIDE The Dark. It called him to follow it into the great yawning blackness, to join it in their place of honor on the other side.
He was scared, but he loved and trusted The Door. It had been his salvation from his tormentors. It had been his friend.
Now it was calling again, entreating him to join it.
