Rebecca and Brendon Schvitz. They think they live alone.
What they don’t realize is that they have a creepy, obese middle aged man living between their walls.

It was a day like any other day for Moe, was it even day? He had no idea as he had not been outside the walls he lives in for years. Moe was an ordinary man, he never did anything peculiar, notwithstanding that he lives between the walls of another family’s house.

He had dreams of being a champion chess player once, and he had just finished a game of chess with the largest fly he could find inside the walls, a fly he had named “Walk”, pertaining to its inability to fly, as Moe had removed the fly’s wings. After his swift victory over the incapable creature, Moe cheered silently, an effort to show the fly who was boss of the domain between the walls yet keep the family outside from hearing.
“I will break you”, said Moe as he lifted the creature towards his mouth.

Moe was no stranger to the family he lived with; Rebecca, the single mother and Brendon, the only child.

He has lived between the walls for a long time, Brendon is growing up.

While Rebecca is at work and Brendan is at school, the shower and sink are left leaking and making a mess. Moe is not an ungrateful squatter, he repairs the sink and shower in their absence as a way of repaying their unknowing kindness.
Sometimes they almost catch Moe, eyeing a glimpse of the creature before he makes it to his abode. Usually they just ignore it as though they had imagined it.

Moe heard the
“Hmm, Brendon must be going to school.” Thought Moe.

In his rare voyages outside the safety of his walls, Moe visits Rebecca’s room. He has never seen her but he listens in on her conversations when he can.
This time he is barely through the hole behind the fridge when they arrive home, the day has passed in a breeze. He should not have ventured with such carelessness. Moe has learned a valuable lesson today. The world is not ready him yet.

It has been a long day for Moe, he rests in his bed, he can hear the Schvitz watching TV. Moe tosses and turns in his sleep, memories of the past haunt him.

The Schvitz go to sleep and Moe awakens, he knows not whether it is night or day, for Moe it is always the darkest hour. "Time for a game of chess." Moe declares.
He sighs and stares into the void, the void stares back.
A brief moment of contemplation; This his life. An oven, a fridge, a chess set. What lies beyond is alien and unforgiving. What lies beyond is a world far too harsh to live in. He thinks to himself, what would the family think of him? How would they react? Moe returns to chess. Thus begins Moe's decent into madness.

Moe stands up, next to his chess set. He calls to him the denizens of the walls, he calls his dearest friends to counsel.
"Friends, we have lived between these walls far too long, held captive by fear. No more!"
