Bang
A crash of thunder booms followed by the strike of lightning that illuminates the sky for what must be kilometres. Another crash strikes, this time causing the electricity in your house to flicker and stop, plunging your house into complete darkness.
A voice calls from the gloom at the bottom of the stairs. "Liv, can you get the candles? They're in the cabinet under the sink in your bathroom." Your mother calls.
Another crash is heard, but this time, it has a hollow resonance unlike the thunder booming outside. Your dad hit his head on something.
"You got those candles yet, Liv?" he shouts up at you.
"Not yet, I need to find the way to the cupboard first."
"Well, I suggest you hurry up before your father runs into something else", your mother says, the hint of laughter thick on her voice.
"Alright, I'll be down in a minute." You say, slightly irritated at your parents impatience.
