Her Last Encounter

She unfolded the aged paper and looked inside. Initially, it looked like foreign writing or a code, but upon closer inspection she realized the handwriting was scrawled across the paper very quickly and haphazardly.

"Isabela, I've been waiting for you to read this. I couldn't come to your house and talk to you in public, they would say too many things about me. They're watching me all the time. They might be watching you as well, but if they aren't I'm not going to lead them to you. . ."

Isabela stopped reading for a moment and took a deep breath glancing back into the woods.

"This isn't funny Anders!" She yelled to no one in particular.

No answer.

She continued to read. "You are the last person I can talk to. I need to see you, to talk to you. You'll understand what's happening to me. The boat house by Nickel Lake. Meet me there tonight. PLEASE don't be seen coming to me. Don't let anyone know where you're going. -Theo"

"This is crazy." Isabela said aloud. "This-" She stopped to think. Then, without a warning, she started home.
