Daybreak
Blaine sat in his room, imagining that he could still feel the heat of Cassidy's lips. "My first deep kiss," he said softly to himself. "Everything else seems so trivial now

Wait, bit? Cassidy was a vampire! Blaine snapped out of his reverie, a small knot of worried paranoia growing in his stomach. There was no telling what would happen now that he had been bitten. Was that bite even long enough or deep enough to do harm? Did it matter that he hadn't been bitten in the neck?
"And what the heck kind of powers do vampires even have, anyways?" said Blaine, pounding his desk with a fist. "Their powers keep changing with every trashy vampire novel that gets written! Curse you, Stephenie Meyer!
"I know," said Blaine, continuing to talk to himself, "I'll make a list. Lists make things better, right? Okay. One. Vampires can't stand to be in sunlight. Unless they sparkle. And Cassidy's already been in sunlight without exploding. Or turning to ash. Whatever. Um two. They have no reflection."
Blaine walked into the bathroom to look at himself in the mirror. "Well, that's good, at least," he said, pleased to see his reflection staring back at him.
"Three. Vampires die when you stake them in the heart. I I'm not gonna test that one. So. Four. They, uhh sometimes they can turn into bats?" Blaine paused, wondering how one would turn oneself into a bat.
"I'll come back to that one," he said, walking back into his bedroom. "Five, vampires can "
