Under a Steel Shadow

You step out from the shadows of an alley and found yourself in a crowded street that is barely visible due to the dim glare of unmaintained street lights.

You keep your head low and your hands hidden in the stuffy pocket of your trench coat. You're artificial heart pumps twice as fast as you become nervous making your way to the crappiest and roughest bar in 8-bit, Wigsby's. Your mind is clouded with second thoughts as you seem fairly convinced that the man you are hunting, Farkus Mckaye, has ties to the one person you are looking for, Dr. Temtem.

"Maybe I should let all of this go and lead a normal life", you tell yourself again after the Nth time today. It's been 3 years since I've been released from that hack-eyed facility and I'm still chasing ladies. Well, Dr. Temtem is more like a psychopathic ice bitch rather than a lady but I can't shake the feeling she is still out there, still violating the laws of nature to her own whim.

The Judges couldn't care less about your situation seeing that they have achieved the only driving impetus that led to Dr. Temtem's self-imposed exile, the method of combining man and machine successfully. Not only do they tolerate her freedom, they are even continuing the program openly branding themselves as the heroes of tomorrow. Whatever, it's my problem and I'll finish it.

You walk away to the outskirts of 8-bit as it starts to rain heavily upon gray mud that surrounds Wigsby's.

Welcome to the shithole...
