The Adventures of King Richard

You set off for the main hall. Fortunately, it's very close to your room, so you only have to walk down a few short corridors to reach it.

On your way there, however, you pass a man with a sword and shield wearing a red uniform. This is one of your guards and you know him very well. His name is Bartholomew. He's been in charge of protecting this castle since before you were born. Under your father, King Charles V, Bartholomew's duties were relatively simple. He only had to concern himself with maintaining the grounds because your father never liked to stay at this castle. However, once you rose to power and began using the premises more often, Bartholomew had to assign a security contingent and set up defensive positions all over the castle.

You wave to Bartholomew and he smiles, bowing his head in reverence. You've never approved of that. You're a king, not a god. Your subjects shouldn't have to display such an overt amount of respect for you.

You debate stopping for a quick chat with Bartholomew. What do you say to him?
