"Yes certainly," Bao says. "He should be in our Prime Capitol Building at this point of the day. He will be very assured to know that you have arrived here safely."
Bao takes you into the upper levels of the forest city of Cathala. You are really taken with the culture you are able to glimpse at as you walk across the massive wooden bridges up in the trees and feel very satisfied so far with having picked this planet as your assignment.
You and Bao approach the Prime Capitol Building, a shining silver diamond-shaped building that sits nestled in the comfort of some immense trees. Bao approaches the great ocular door and raps three times, followed by two scratches of his inhumanely large fingernails.
"What is the message for today?" a high voice asks from behind the door.
"Always be close to the people you know the least," Bao responds and a moment later the ocular door shimmers out of existance, allowing the two of you to enter.
The inside is spectacular; the floors are sparkling white, so much that you can see your own reflection. There are many statues of historic Weyans and also a few other alien races. You do notice one human statue, a man you've become very familiar with through the academy. As you pass by the statue, the enscription reads: David Wilson. The 1st Universal Ranger.
Bao takes you up a large spiral staircase up many floors until you reach the top. A few Weyans wearing expensive-looking garments pass by and give you some odd glances. Bao waits by the door as you enter the Minister's large office. There stands the Minister Ryol, gazing out over a balcony at his city below.
He turns, a wisened old Weyan, and gives you a wrinkled smile. "Hello Ranger, I'm glad to see that you've made it here so quickly."
"Sure," you say as you shake his hand. "Derista really isn't that far from here. So what can you tell me about my assignment?"
Ryol trying smile now quickly drops to a frown and he sighs, shaking his head as he once again gazes out at his city.
"You know, there was a time when I was a very youthful politican and I really believed I could change this place. Rid it of all the hypocrisy and ignorance that has plagued its beauty for so many years. But alas, here I stand before you today, a very old man with little time left, and the Rakkers are more powerful than I could have ever imagined."
"So you think that they are the ones who kidnapped Dr. Speviso?"
"Oh, I'm sure of it. There have been a lot of kidnappings recently, many of our notable academics who conduct research that don't fall under the Rakkers' very selective paradigm."
"Well, this is one person that they definitely made a mistake to kidnap. Dr. Speviso has helped the Universal Government out tremendously over the years and while he had the chance to retire, he still wanted to continue his research. Keep in mind he was also told to do research in a 'safer' region of Weyah, but for him it had to be the Athar Region. I guess you must have some pretty special plants here."
Ryol began to pace around his office. "Oh believe me, I know what an embarassment our region of Weyah must look as compared with the others. Barbaric, I suppose. But I tell you, the Rakkers can be dealt with. I've sent out many a plea to the U.G. over the years but have I ever seen a response? No. Not since the scientist got kidnapped have they even sent a Ranger our way."
"Well...I guess I'm sorry to hear that. But what can I do to start my investigation, now that I AM here?"
"I suppose there's three places you could begin to look for clues. The western part of town is where the Rakkers hold their great mass every Friday at the Holy Grounds. There's also The Knife, which is a cantina known for gatherings of Rakkers from time to time. Finally, there's the Cathala Gardens where it's been rumored the Rakkers have a hideout."
