Universe
You step inside the dimly-lit building known as the "Monzy Inn". At once you take notice of your surroundings and you find the place mostly empty, aside from an old alien woman of a species you don't recognize playing an organ-synth. There are a few lanterns lit on the tables, allowing you to see that this place is filled with different kinds of old antique furniture. You even spy a shelf where there are a few ancient books nestled on a shelf, the kind with pages made from trees.
Approaching the counter, you are met with a toad-like Bolzo who asks you for your identification. You slip him your Ranger card and his eyes widen for a slight moment when he looks at it. He looks back at you a little suspiciously but flicks his tongue out and hands you back your card.
"Whaddya want?" he says in grumbly Human. "Standard room or luxury?"
"Just a standard will be fine, thanks."
He disappears below the counter for a second and then returns with your keycard. All the while you hear the jumbled notes of the organ-synth playing in the background and sadly to say, it doesn't really seem like this woman knows how to play very well. The Bolzo reappears and slides across to you a keycard with your room "A34" printed on it.
"Hey Migs, shut it!" he yells over to the woman. She seems not to notice and keeps right on playing her awful tune.
"Hag can't hear anything worth a damn," he grumbles. He then shouts again "Migs, shut it or I'ma come blast that thing!"
The absentminded alien woman still keeps on right playing and not wanting to see this grumpy Bolzo freak out anymore, you retreat to your room. It's shabby just like you expected. But it has a small bed, which is really all you need. Now taking out your holopad, you place it on the ground and an instant later an image appears before you. Pressing a few buttons in the air, you are connected in a few seconds to the Net.
You are surprised at the speed at which you were able to connect to the Net out here. You hope it keeps up as you search quickly for the Ranger Site and are directed to the familiar home screen. You push Contact and a moment later are greeted with the familiar face of the Ranger Clara. She was a class above you at the Academy and just completed her first assignment on Reufan last month.
She smiles and says "Hey there new Ranger! How do you like Tro so far?"
"Uh, yeah about that. Look Clara, I need you to report this to Marvus Delko okay? It's really important...someone else landed down in Baraza and claims to be me. Headquarters needs to find my contact and tell him this before anything-
"Wait, what?" Clara asks. Her hologram starts to go fuzzy. "You're breaking up. There's another Ranger on Tro? We don't have anyone listed."
"No, listen to me Clara! There's someone here who's pre-
But you drop your sentence as the hologram shuts off in front of you. Gazing down at your holopad, you see that the small sensor is blinking red, a sign that it is out of energy.
"Damn it!" you shout. Frustrated, you decide to try and get some sleep and think about things in the morning.
You are awakened in the middle of the night by a strange sound coming from the next room. At first you think it's probably just the old pipes but then you notice the the sounds, like a bumping noise, keep changing in volume.
This is wierd. Should you go investigate?
