Hall of Infinite Doors

First you simply spend some time walking about, blending with the crowd while you examine the stalls. Eventually you mark a few of the likeliest candidates and drift nonchalantly back over to them, standing around pretending to be paying attention to something else until the merchant's attention is diverted for a moment and you can make your move.

Using this method you help yourself to some more food, a basket to hold it in, a glass tube of glowichen, a small knife (you already have your own, but this one was shinier!) and have just snagged your most daring conquest yet--a brand new, child-sized pair of hiking boots, skillfully crafted--when the man selling them looks up and spots you!

He lets out an angry shout and you turn and run, the cobbler dodging through the crowd behind you with surprising speed. The somewhat bulky prizes you still cling to slow you down a bit, and you've drawn the attention of others now, a few who try to stop you.

"You're in trouble now!" A voice barks as a strong hand grabs you by the collar, but something happens to keep the man from following through with that threat.

Unfortunately that something means you're in far worse trouble.

There is first a surprised, low murmur from the crowd, which turn to outright shouts as the ground begins to rumble and shake. Up here, the effect is magnified, the entire bridge groaning and quaking violently, bits of it breaking away. Stalls are overturned and people push and claw at each other as a panicked mob mentality sets in and everyone runs for the closest side of the bridge at once.

In the chaos the man seems to forget that he's even holding you, and you're soon lost within the crowd in just as much terror as everyone else, this made worse by the fact that your small size means you're jostled and kicked and in danger of being literally trampled to death at any moment.

You are too close to a shattered bit of railing when a stray elbow jabs you too hard, and in another moment you are tumbling, screaming, into the abyss below.

Though as fate would have it, you don't go alone - just before you hit the ground, there is an earsplitting CRACK, and the last sight you see is the rest of the Great Bridge and everyone still on it coming down to join you.
