Bouncing Back

Author's note:
This is my first story on infinite-story.com, and I'd like to see the twists and turns that could lead in this direction. This story is about Jake Huntingsworth, a freshman who is the third-string point guard on the UNC basketball. This story should tell of Jake's beginning demise, and lead to the realistic moments and troubles he'll have to deal with in redeeming himself in his eyes and the school's. I know I'm a first timer here, but my rules for writing this are that you have to acknowledge that Jake is an underdog, not a basketball superstar who has to redeem himself from something that will be explained in the next chapter. Also, if you want to write a room, then PLEASE make sure that you use decent grammar and spelling. I know nobody's perfect (I'm far from it) with this stuff, but please make the effort to check yourself and if the story makes sense grammatically or not.

Another thing I thought I'd point out: this is in no way based on the real Tar Heels at all, as you can see that the main character and others aren't even Tar Heels. They're just characters I've created. While I did mention some of the real Tar Heels in this game, those name droppings are it. Obviously, I've made changes with the championship game, as North Carolina's playing UConn, not Michigan. So yeah, no other actual players on the Tar Heels will be in the rest of this story. The rest will just be original characters. Anyway, enough with my babbling. I hope you enjoy this story.

This game, starting point guard Ty Lawson couldn't start the game as he had a twisted knee at the end of the previous game against Villanova. Sam Gerardi, one of your very few good friends on the team who's the backup point guard and somebody you know who's had all the talent in the world (and was seen as a spectacular backup to Ty Lawson) was cleared to play this whole game. You got to see the last few minutes of the first half as playing time as he went to the bench to get some rest, and you even managed to score two points.

However, Sam ended up being the star of the game so far. He's scored 20 points and had 8 assists, and even managed to rack up a steal. You couldn't have wished for a better person to be under the spotlight at the moment. When he went out of the game, he was fouled out, but received a standing ovation for his spectacular play. That's when your name's being yelled by the coach. With all the butterflies shaking in your stomach, you go up and get ready to go into the game.

You know that there's not much time left, but you still can't help to wonder how you've gotten in this situation...
