The Mind Bender

Jarr-on turned and ran out of the hut, heading for the forest. His mind was clouded with doubt but his feet carried him swiftly and soon he was amongst the soft ferns and cool shadowed shade of the forest.

Leaning against a tree, he closed his eyes and tried to clear his thoughts.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed but he suddenly sensed a shift in the forest energies and opened his eyes.

He was surrounded by Shinta warriors. Reaching for his sword, he sent out a mind shield but he was blocked.

He grabbed his short sword and attacked. He was used to battle but he was greatly outnumbered and without the ability to Mind Bend, he had to rely on brute strength alone.

Baring his teeth, he charged the leader. If he could fell him, the others would be easier.

Sword met sword and the smell of blood filled the air. He wasn't sure how much of it was his own.

It wasn't an honorable fight. The others did not stand back. Before he knew it, his blade was knocked from his hand and he fell, bleeding, dying.

His last thought was of Alexis. She would be so sad.
