Refills

Fade in: We are in Hank's living room. It doesn't seem to be as neat as it once was. Beer bottles are strewn about, random documents and papers can be seen here and there. Empty baggies and fast food related trash clutter the floor and furniture.

Hank sits on a chair with no legs, watching the television. It appears that he has just awakened, but the sunlight from outside indicates mid afternoon. Hank takes a drag from the lit joint int his hand as he watches the random programming before him. He hits the joint again before putting it out in a roach filled ashtray on the ground beside him.

Commercials cover the screen as he watches the first advertisement in silence, licking at his dry lips in an attempt to work up some moisture; indicative of cotton-mouth. A commercial comes on talking about free drink refills in the diner at Taco Hut.

Hank stands up and walks into the kitchen, his feet absently kicking up bits of trash on the floor as he moves. He opens the refrigerator and finds it to be completely bare save for a moldy orange on the top shelf. He moves on to the cupboard and gets down an old Taco Hut cup, then walks through his house to the living room and opens the front door.

There before him, across the street, is a Taco Hut. He walks through his front yard to the street and crosses to the Taco Hut parking lot. He enters the store. Only two customers are within, sitting together at a table in a corner. Hank walks directly over to the soda fountain and begins filling up his cup, partly with ice but primarily with cola.

Behind the counter is an employee named Steve who sees all of this and seems to become angry

Steve: Hey! (Hank pays him no attention) Hey, you can't do that!

Once Hank has filled his cup, he snaps a lid onto it and grabs a straw before turning around and making his way to the door.

Steve: Stop! Come back here!

Hank exits the Taco Hut and crosses the street back to his place. As he gets close to his house we can hear his phone ringing. As he enters the house, he sips a bit from his pop. The moment he enters his house and closes the door, he looks for and finds his cordless phone and puts it to his ear.

Hank: Hello? ... What's up, Mick? ... Nothing, just chillin'.... Watching TV, smoking a Jay. ... Yeah, sure... Yeah, that's cool, come on over. ... Yeah, you can bring a girl over with you. ... And her friend? No way, Mick. ... You know how I feel about that. ... Well, okay, she can come. But don't lead her into thinking that there is to be some sort of hook-up. ... I'm serious Mick. I'm not ready yet... Alright, bye.

Hank begins cleaning up his apartment as quickly as possible, scooping up heaps of trash and putting it into trash bags. We cut out of the scene as he continues to work.
