The Corporate Ladder

You rub your chin for a moment, pretending to be thinking hard about this.

"I can't really think of anything," you say. "Sorry."

"Oh, that's OK. I think I've heard enough. You're hired," says your new boss. "You start on Monday."

On Monday, you arrive for work two minutes late, but nobody seems to notice. You go through an orientation that lets you know all of the company's rules and regulations. Next, your new boss gives you a tour of the building and introduces you to your co-workers.

The head of accounting is a very attractive redhead and you get the distinct impression that she is flirting with you. When you take a break later in the day, she happens to be the only other person in the break room. The company policies outlined to you just hours before strongly discourage inter-company dating.

She catches your eye as she bites down on a banana.

Something in her expression makes you sure she'd never tell.
