Hall of Infinite Doors

You noiselessly sneak out into the grass and grab a loaf of bread and a waterskin before making your way back to the safety of the woods. You nibble on the bread and open the waterskin. It's some sort of berry juice and is more than a little satisfying to your thirsty soul.

You sneak around the small field until you are behind the carriage. The coachman is clearly sleeping. You then untie the rope that fastens the box attached to the rear of the carriage and place your sword at the bottom before you climb inside. It is exceedingly hot and dark.

Still you wait. You are about to climb out of the stifling heat when you hear noises near the carriage.

Man: "Whatever did I do with that waterskin?"

Woman: "Oh Charles, I am sure that it will emerge someplace. I've had such a wonderful time. But you best get me home before my father misses me."

You hear some murmurring and scattered voices, including that of the coachman, and feel the carriage strain as people climb aboard. You hold your breath as someone walks behind the carriage. He must have noticed the knot undone, as whoever it is takes time to tie it.

Shortly you are off. It is hot and the ride seems painfully long as you bounce along the road. You hear a voice now and then, and then nothing. Once you stop for a spell, but soon you are hot, cramped and bouncing along the road again.

Finally, the carriage stops. For a long while you hear nothing. Although it is clearly getting dark outside you cannot open the box as it tied shut. You can't wedge the sword out from under you.

For dinner you have the last of your now sweaty loaf of bread. You hear the horses being unhitched and led away.

Somehow you sleep.

You awake to a much cooler box. You hear someone scurrying outside your new prison. The person is untying the rope.

As the box starts to open, you leap out, startling the maid into a high pitched scream.

You're in a stable somewhere. Outside you see a couple hands scurrying about, dropping a pail of milk here and running there. You hear the neigh of startled horses. You look to your left and see a kitchen of servants running away from you.
