Hall of Infinite Doors

The hallway seems... thinner here, somehow. You can vaguely sense something outside the corridor. Another realm, or just a great, yawning emptiness too immense to comprehend? The space between the walls has grown so subtley you hadn't realized it, but the width of the hallway has nearly doubled.

The walls, the floor, the ceiling... so thin, so fragile, but there is life pulsing gently, warmly, insistently everywhere you walk. This hallway - this entity - is alive. You can feel it. The space between the walls continues to grow; the corridor grows ever thinner, until you feel like you're walking on air. But the life in this space has become so very strong.

Someone, something else. Another presence. Finally, finally something else alive in this vast, empty, endless expanse. Gentle sobs wrack your body. You stop without knowing why. The tears that stream down your face... the joy you feel at no longer being alone. Surely this moment is timeless? Surely these feelings are as boundless as the endless corridor you're walking through.

A feeling pulses back at you from the floor where you kneel, tickling at the edges of your mind. Familiarity. Adoration, devotion. Love. You feel your mind widening in response to this new presence. Perhaps you are a part of this corridor. Perhaps you, too, are infinite. Your heart feels like it's breaking; you feel like you're dying, or being born. The intensity of this feeling will make you whole or tear you apart, and your emotions are not entirely your own.

The hallway shudders, pulses around you - expectant. You look up, your new perceptions allowing you to notice the doors, set exquisitely and almost invisibly into walls as thin as the very air around you. Life flows in each of them as well; a different life. Four different lives. You brush them gently, and feel out their emotions. You don't know what's going on, but you feel compelled somehow to make a decision. Fate is forcing your hand. Tread carefully; keep your touch light. Don't hurt them.
