Hall of Infinite Doors
With some difficulty you stand and tell Michelle that it's not necessary. You explain that received it for free and don't want to make anything off it. Then you leave and close the door.
When you get home you kick yourself for not taking some money. After all, that three thousand dollar bill is coming due in two weeks. To make up for it, you raid the house over the weekend and gather another $950, this time making sure to avoid jewelery.
Tuesday comes. You see Michelle in English class. She smiles at you. You smile back. After you are walking home when she comes running up to you.
"Hey, Chris!"
"Hey."
"I really appreciate what you did for me. If you ever find some girl you want, let me know. I'll get her for you."
"Ok." You smile.
"And, also, if we had another problem at the dorm, do you think we could ask you?"
You realize she may be talking about the thefts you did over the weekend.
"What sort of thing?" you ask.
"Well, we don't want to go to the cops, so maybe we could talk privately somewhere. How about tonight at eight?"
"I'm busy tonight," you say politely, though its a commitment you could get out of.
"How about tomorrow after class? Around five?"
You sigh inside. "Ok. Should I meet you at your room?"
"Oh yes," she says. "And thanks!!"
