Paul's Kingdom

"Alright guys, we need to stay together. If we split up, they'll surely pick us off. If we're together, we can probably hold them off, and then hit them at their base."

All of your comrades offer their silent agreement with nods. You simultaneously draw your weapons and advance towards the enemies slowly.

The battle commences. The first wave of Yuras, numbering six, attacks. You make short work of the small alien-like creatures. Only Murgog is hit by any Yuran attack; his knee makes a horrendous crunching sound when it is whacked by a Yuran club.

The second wave does not go as well. This time, the Yuras throw about half of their total force at you. You smash Yuran skulls continuously, tallying six kills yourself.

But this time the Yuras get some compensation. Restuit, your best soldier and general of all your men, falls to a pack of Yuras. They viciously beat him to the ground and do not stop pounding him until he appears dead.

Finishing off the remaining Yuras, you survey the damage done to Restuit. Your other friends notice him down and begin to rush to his aid. His injury seems to be very serious indeed. "Are you going to live?" you ask him.

"I don't know," he says, coughing. "I don't know. But I want to talk to you in private, Paul."

Right before everyone else comes to assess Restuit's probability of surviving, you wave them off. "Go check for more Yuras," you order.

Vero gazes at the body in worry. "Shouldn't we be helping Resuit?"

"You can help him by making sure no more Yuras come and attack his body!" you yell, a little louder than planned. Vero runs off to check for more Yuras. You turn back to Resuit.

"So, are you going to make it?"

"No. But I need to talk to you about Q'iol. Vero is right. He's up to something sinister. You have to promise me you'll keep an eye on him."

"Why? Although Vero's judgment is usually dead-on, I think he may be wrong this time. Q'iol's never been hostile to me. He's just different from the rest of you."

"No. I can tell you he is vile and ambitious. He will not stop until he in the leader of the Kingdom. I do not know what he is planning; just that there are some malfunctioning gears moving in his brain."

"Do you think I should banish him?"

"No! Not without proof, at least. Just once he does anything, make sure he...is stopped."

You know that it is now time for revenge. Restuit was killed by Yuras. People in your kingdom have been killed by Yuras before (a total of eight you believe). But never anyone so close.

Perhaps the new Kingdom will be callled Restuit...yes, it will.

Still, Restuit's last words burn in your head. Q'iol is up to something...but what?

Around a lunch you brood. Your friends simply think you are grieving over Restuit's passing, but your thoughts never stray from Q'iol. Accusations from Vero mean nothing. But coming from Resuit it's serious.

You know two options confront you at the moment. Sleep on the issue, and attack the Yuras where it hurts tomorrow morning or go for it right now.
