The next day you go to human resources. As you are rapidly running out of office space, the human resource functions are performed out of a small unit in the basement.

You enter the cinderblock room. You hear a woman's voice coming from down the hall.

"I'm sorry. I just can't help you with that. Yes. I understand."

Your listening is interrupted by the slender girl seated behind the desk. "Can I help you?"

"Yes. I had a couple questions and wanted to know what to do without Brian."

The woman you heard enters the room. It's Sylvia, the head of HR. She looks exhausted. "I can't do this," she says to the seated girl. "How am I supposed to order supplies? I don't even know where the room is."

"I can do that, ma'am," you say.

"Ch . . . ch . . . Charlie?" she asks, remembering your name. "That would be such a help. If you could take care of these things while we find a new office manager, that'd be great."

"No problem," you reply. "Do you think I could have a temp too? It's so hard to have one person do two jobs."

"Fine," replies Sylvia. "You'll see the contact for the temp company in Brian's rolodex."

You return to the mailroom and, after ordering supplies, dial the temp services. They have several people they'd like you to interview.
