Hall of Infinite Doors

"Aww, sleepihead!" she replies laughing. "You drove us here from the bar. And I thought I was wasted" She laughs.

The other girl laughs at you too. You go in the bathroom and shut the door so as to leave them to their laughter. You look at yourself in the mirror and dress. Old underwear. You'll have to freeball.

You emerge and the other girl is gone. "You better hurry or you'll be late for the big game," says Jenny.

"What about you being late for work?" you ask.

"Aww," you know Steve, "I'll just let him feel me over and then give him a quickie. All will be forgiven." She smiles wryly. You wonder who this Mitch Hoffman is.

You leave and Jenny locks the door behind her. You go down to the parking lot and Jenny walks over to a green Grand Cherokee. "Yep, it's yours," she chimes.

Sure enough, it is. If the key fits, you own it. You start driving, but have no idea where you are going. Just then, Jenny's cell phone rings. She listens intently, mumbles an affirmative and then directs you to drive in a different direction. You're relieved to have some direction at all.

After hanging up, Jenny starts talking, "Remember Sonya, the one who lost her parents last year to that deranged killer? You remember, her mother alone took 22 stab wounds. It was awful. She and her only sibling, Anne, share an apartment just off campus. Now she claims she can't find her. I'm sure she's just freaking out, but you know how it goes. She's really freaking out."

It takes a while to get where you are going, as there is a lot of traffic for some football event. On Jenny's instruction, you pull up beside a black Lexus with a black haired girl standing next to it. She looks worried. Jenny bounds out and hugs her friend.

You get out and introduce yourself: "Mitch."

"I'm Sonya." She looks at Jenny, concerned. "It's ok," says Jenny, "I left my car at work, so got a ride with Mitch." Sonya looks about to cry. "Why tell people?!" she sobs.

Jenny looks genuinely hurt.

"Let's just go to the police station and file a report," says Sonya quietly, "we'll have to take your car. Mine has a flat."

Just then another girl comes walking up lugging several books on genetics. She is also blonde, but shorter than Jenny by a few inches. "Hey Ashley!" says Jenny. "I thought you'd be cheering your man on at the game." You look and realize there is no one else around.

"I would," replies Ashley, "but we broke up. I don't want to see him, so I thought I'd go to the library instead. What are you all doing?"

Jenny looks at Sonya.

"I can't find Anne," pleads Sonya starting to get upset, "could you help me find her?"

They all pile into your SUV, with Sonya in front. You start driving. Then Ashley pipes up. "Wouldn't it be faster just to call the cops and file a report?"
