The House On The Corner

You turn around to walk back towards the front of the house telling Sam that you would rather knock first. You wait a moment and you think he will follow, but when you turn back around you can see that he has already gone into the house. You think a moment but decide to stick with your original plan. You call out to Sam but you don't hear an answer so you run back to the front of the yard. You look up at the sprawling house and then step up and knock on the door. You can hear a few sounds but you aren't sure where they are coming from. You knock loudly and try the door. It is unlocked so you slowly open it a crack and peek in. You say hello! and see a large shadow coming toward you. You are not sure what to do. Should you run off or wait and see who it is? Time is short so which will it be?
