Weapon

Jezirea didn't have a sword, but she did have a dagger. She fumbled for a moment, worried that she might have dropped it in the confusion of the chase, but it was still there, strapped to her belt. She breathed a sigh of relief. She doubted that the dagger would be a decent sustitute for a sword, if that's what was supposed to be inserted in to the alter at all, but she was glad she hadn't lost it.

She unsheathed her dagger, and then almost hesitantly, instered in to the alter.
She held her breath for a moment, but there was nothing.

"Close, but no good," a strange voice echoed, and Jezirea almost jumped out of her skin in surprise.
She spun about, but found the doors still sealed. She turned again, looking for the owner of the voice, and found him sitting in the corner of the alter room, almost hidden by the shadows. Almost.
Had he been there before? Jezirea was certain that she should have seen him when she first entered the room. As far as she knew, the room had been empty, but here this guy was.

Jezirea approached the man cautiously. "Who are you?"

The man shrugged, and looked away.

"What are you doing down here?" Jezirea tried again, but not really expecting an answer.

"I was trapped."

That shocked her. How long had he been down here? She looked at the man, studying his face for as long as he would allow it.
He had angular, peircing eyes, but his hair was just a mess. It was a dark brown, but it had grown out to his shoulders, and it, along with most of his skin and clothing was covered in dirt.
Jezirea glanced at the doors, which as far as she could tell, were still sealed. How had he gotten in?
Then she glanced at the pile of stone rubble, and the hole in the wall that she'd entered through.

Irritation entered her voice. "Did you dig that hole?"

The man nodded. "It took me a long time to break through the stone."

Jezirea grumbled to herself. It wasn't really his fault. He had been trapped, and trying to get out. He had no way of knowing that anyone would fall in to the hole.
"Well, your tunnel has hit open air," she said, and noticed as he perked up at her words.

"Oh, I was wondering how you got in," he said, almost in a daze.

'Not very bright,' Jezirea though, wondering exactly how he thought she'd gotten in when the doors were sealed, and the tunnel was the only other entrance. How he'd gotten in was a trickier puzzle though. If he was the one digging the tunnel out... Jezirea gave up thinking about it after a few seconds. It just didn't make sense and it was making her head hurt.

"We can leave now," Jezirea said. With another person, they could help each other get out of the hole.
The man stood without a word and followed her in to the hole in the wall. They had to crouch down as they stpped in to the tunnel and made there way to where the hole opened up above. Jezirea turned to the man, and could see a lazy smile spread across his face as he gazed up through the dust filled rays of light.
Without having to share a word, they then helped each other climb out of the hole. The man helped lift Jezirea so she could climb out, and then she reached back in to pull him out. When they were finally free, Jezirea began to brush the dirt impatiently from her clothes. The man merely took a deep breath, and Jezirea once again found herself wondering how long he had been trapped.

"So..." Jezirea began hesitantly. She felt that she should say something, but she had no idea where to start. Her head was filled with questions, most pertaining to how this man had gotten stuck in a sealed chamber, but she felt it probably wasn't her place to ask.
