dead man shuffle

Deciding that you can always return home if you think of anything you want later, you begin taking down your quickly constructed wall of furniture in order to get out of the basement.

Heading up onto the second (or ground) floor of the house, you look out a window to see how things have changed. It's a sunny day, the sort of day that's perfect for sitting outside with a book, going on a slow walk, or any number of outdoor activities. That makes the fact that the street is empty as far as your eyes can see in both directions especially worrying. You see a heap of rags in the middle of the street, and notice that three of the houses across the street from you seem to have burned to the ground. Other than that, the community looks unchanged; just as if everyone had packed up and left one morning and never come back.
