The Sealed Princess of Five Fates

"Lady Lethal," I say, with a bit of disdain in my voice. "Are you familiar with the concept of punctuality?" I slowly rise from my throne and begin walking down the steps until I'm standing beside Lady Lethal at the bottom of them. She's watching me with shocked eyes. I usually didn't belt out at her, but I am in a rather sour mood, between Skelp's noisome navigational abilities and now her loathsome lateness.

I pinch the root of my nose with my thumb and index finger before looking up at her. She was at least six feet taller than me, at least when she was standing upright. Which, for a lamia, just means three-fourths of her body was vertical while the rest of her tail was still making contact with the floor. I sigh and start pacing around her, mindful to step over her tail whenever I came around to it.

"Lady Lethal, as one of the leading commanders of my army, I expect you to be at the top of your game at all times."

She just watches silently as I circle her, her eyes intense on me, especially whenever I am within a step of her tail, which is a lamia's most sensitive spot.

"If I am to lead a victorious carnage against the humans, I must make sure you are able to swiftly carry information, as well as act quick in any other kind of task you're attending to in the jaws of war. Ever seen a human? Pitiful? Yes. Quick and witty? Most I've seen are. And merciful?"

I hop onto her back, which causes her to jolt a little. Making sure I'm just beside her ear as I whisper in a stern voice, "Not at all."

I swing off her back with one hand and land in front of her. As a leader, you need to have a bit of flash to you, to keep everyone in a bit of awe, especially those higher up the chain of command.

She then takes a very low bow and looks up at me with saddened eyes.

"Please," She says. "Forgive me, Princess. I will be more swift in my tasks from now on. And do whatever it takes to make up for this mishap!'
